PROMOTION TERMS
Disclosure Notice in accordance with section 47A of the Fair Trading Act 1987 (NSW)
These Terms and Conditions are important, and you should read them fully. But there are some specific terms we wanted to make you aware of. These are set out below.

Promoter
The promoter is Sony Australia Limited, Level 7, 73 Miller Street, North Sydney NSW 2060 (Sony).
Information on how to register, and the Extended 1-Year Sony Standard Warranty form part of these Promotion Terms.
Promotion
Customers (“Customers”, “You”, “Your”) who have a residential address in Australia and who, on or after the Commencement Date:
- purchase an Eligible Product in Australia;
- either:
- have an existing MySony Account or create such an account when registering their Eligible Product; or
- have a valid email address;
- register their Eligible Product at the Product Registration Page, completing all fields, within 30 days from the date of purchase;
- have opted in to personalised marketing when registering their Eligible Product; and
- otherwise comply with these terms and conditions (“Promotion Terms”),
will receive an additional 1 year’s warranty on the Sony Standard Warranty period relevant to their Eligible Product. The additional 1-year extended warranty on the Sony Standard Warranty is in addition to, and does not limit, exclude or modify the statutory consumer guarantees provided for under the Australian Consumer Law. Eligibility to apply for the Extended 1-Year Sony Standard Warranty
To be eligible to register their Eligible Product to obtain the Extended 1-Year Sony Standard Warranty, Customers must:
- have a residential address in Australia;
- have a MySony Account;
- have purchased either outright or with retailer finance, an Eligible Product on or after the Commencement Date or received it as a gift;
- have retained their Proof of Purchase; and
- have not registered their Eligible Product before. Duplicate or extended registrations are not permitted.
The following Customers are not eligible to register their Eligible Product:
- Visitors from overseas who have purchased an Eligible Product while in Australia, even if they currently have an Australian residential address;
- Australian residents who purchase a Sony product from overseas and bring it back for use in Australia; or
- Customers who have purchased an Eligible Product for commercial or resale purposes. Only claimants who are end users of an Eligible Product are entitled to claim under these Promotion Terms. For the purposes of this Promotion, “end-user” means a “Consumer as defined in the Australian Consumer Law.
For clarity:
- the Tourist Limited Warranty is excluded from this Promotion; and
- the Extended 1-Year Sony Standard Warranty does not impact any rights you have if you have purchased a MySony Care Plan.
How to obtain the Extended 1-Year Sony Standard Warranty
In order to obtain the Extended 1-Year Sony Standard Warranty, Customers who meet the requirements in clause 2 above must visit the Product Registration Page within 30 days from their date of purchase and complete the following fields:
- First and last name
- Email address
- Product to be registered, by model number
- Date of Purchase
- Store purchased from
- Serial Number
- Upload Proof of Purchase, subject to the conditions in clause 9 below; and
- opt in to receiving Sony news and offers. It is a condition of this Promotion that Customers must opt in to receiving marketing communications from the Promoter. Customers will be prompted to do so on the Product Registration Page. Customers may opt out of these communications at any later time by following the unsubscribe process at the bottom of these communications.
Eligibility for the Extended 1-Year Sony Standard Warranty is dependent on completing all fields on the Product Registration Page for the Eligible Product.
Manual registration (for example mailing in details and information) is not available.
Submission of incomplete, invalid or incorrect information will void the Extended 1-Year Sony Standard Warranty.
The following applies in relation to uploading the Proof of Purchase:
- Sony’s preference, if it is available, is a copy of the original receipt or tax invoice, showing the model number.
- However, for the purposes of these Promotion Terms, Sony will accept any valid evidence as proof of purchase>
- The only exception to (b) for the purposes of these Promotion Terms is a credit card statement or other financial information related material, which are not accepted for the purposes of these Promotion Terms. For clarity, a credit card statement or other financial information is valid evidence for the purposes of any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law, . These rights are separate and in addition to the Extended 1-Year Sony Standard Warranty.
Upon successful completion of all mandatory fields, clicking “Register” will then register the Eligible Product:
- against the email address provided; and
- if a MySony Account exists, in the Customer’s My Sony Account.
In the case of (a) and / or (b), the Customer will then receive an email confirming registration. For clarity, receiving this email confirming registration still requires compliance with these Promotion Terms to obtain the Extended 1-Year Sony Standard Warranty and receiving the email is not evidence in and of itself that the Customer has complied with these Promotion Terms.
The Promoter reserves the right, at any time, to request additional information from a Customer to verify the information provided on the Product Registration Page, to verify compliance with the requirements of clause 3 (including the Customer’s identity, Eligible Product serial number and place of residence) or verify compliance with any other part of these Promotion Terms. The Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to refuse to provide the Extended 1-Year Sony Standard Warranty to any Customer who the Promoter has reason to believe has breached any of these Promotion Terms, tampered with the registration process set out in these Promotion Terms or engaged in any unlawful or other improper misconduct calculated to jeopardise fair and proper conduct of this Promotion, or where it is reasonably necessary to protect Sony’s infrastructure, systems, data, security or assets and/or Your personal information. Any misrepresentation or fraudulent information will automatically disqualify entitlement to the Extended 1-Year Sony Standard Warranty. The Promoter reserves its legal rights to cover damages or other compensation from any such offender.
Errors and omissions may be accepted at the Promoter’s sole discretion.
One registration is permitted for each Eligible Product purchased, as identified by product serial number.
Terms relating to the Extended 1-Year Sony Standard Warranty, including its relationship to the Australian Consumer Law
The Extended 1-Year Sony Standard Warranty is subject to the same terms as set out in the Sony Standard Warranty, except that the relevant “Warranty Term” for the Eligible Product as set out in Table 1 in the Sony Standard Warranty is extended by 1 Year.
The 1-Year time period for the Extended 1-Year Sony Standard Warranty starts from the end of the relevant “Warranty Term” for the Eligible Product as set out in Table 1 of the Sony Standard Warranty.
The Extended 1-Year Sony Standard Warranty is in addition to, and does not limit, exclude or modify the statutory consumer guarantees provided for under the Australian Consumer Law.
The following statement applies to purchases of the Promoter’s goods, including an Eligible Product:
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
Changes to Excluded Products
Sony may update the Excluded Products by updates to the Excluded Products Website from time to time. Any updates to Excluded Products will not impact any Eligible Products purchased before the change was implemented. These products can still be registered within the required 30-day period.
Offer is subject to change or cancellation
Sony reserves the right to change or cancel this Promotion at its discretion without prior notice.
Changes to or cancelling of this Promotion will not affect:
- any Eligible Product purchases that have successfully registered in accordance with these Promotion Terms to obtain the Extended 1-Year Sony Standard Warranty; and
- Customers who have purchased an Eligible Product in the 30 days prior to the change or cancellation taking effect which are eligible to obtain the Extended 1-Year Sony Standard Warranty.
General
Non-transferable: The Extended 1-Year Sony Standard Warranty is not transferable or assignable.
Non-redeemable: The Extended 1-Year Sony Standard Warranty is not redeemable for cash.
Circumstances impacting this Promotion beyond the reasonable control of Sony: If this promotion is interfered with in any way or is not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter, including but not limited to technical difficulties, unauthorised intervention or fraud, the Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to the fullest extent permitted by law to disqualify any claimant, modify, suspend, terminate or cancel the promotion, as appropriate.
Severability: If any part or all of any clause in these Promotion Terms is illegal, invalid or unenforceable then it will be read down to the extent necessary to ensure that it is not illegal, invalid or unenforceable, but if that is not possible, it will be severed from these Promotion Terms and the remaining provisions of these Promotion Terms will continue to have full force and effect.
Australian Consumer Law Rights: Nothing in these Promotion Terms affects any rights You may have and which by law cannot be excluded, including under the Australian Consumer Law, contained in Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Law Act 2010 (C’th).
Cost: any cost associated with accessing the Product Registration Page is the Customer’s responsibility and is dependent on the internet service provider used.
Personal information: Sony collects personal information ("PI") in order to conduct this promotion. Sony will use, collect, store and disclose PI as set out in its Privacy Policy (https://store.sony.com.au/privacy-policy.html.
Governing Law: These Promotion Terms are governed by and will be construed in accordance with the laws of New South Wales, Australia. You submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of NSW and the Commonwealth with respect to any action or other legal process with respect to any matter in connection with these Promotion Terms.
Definitions
In these Promotional Terms the following definitions shall have the following meaning:
“Australian Consumer Law” means the Australian Consumer Law contained in Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth).
“Commencement Date” means 3 August 2026.
“Eligible Products” means any new product sold or distributed by Sony Australia Limited through any business listed at https://www.sony.com.au/microsite/wheretobuy/ (as updated from time to time) that is not an Excluded Product.
“Excluded Product” means the products excluded from this Promotion as set out at the Excluded Products Page and as updated or varied by Sony from time to time in accordance with clause 18.
“Excluded Products Page” means the website located at (insert link);
“Extended 1-year Sony Standard Warranty” means 1 year additional warranty in addition to the applicable Sony Standard Warranty for the Eligible Product where these Promotion Terms are met.
“MySony Account” means the MySony Account which consumers can create at https://store.sony.com.au/myaccount and sign up to by accepting the relevant terms and conditions.
“My Sony Care Plan” means Sony’s peace of mind benefits program, available for an additional charge and in addition to Sony’s Standard Warranty and a consumer’s rights available under the Australian Consumer Law, available at https://store.sony.com.au/mysonycare.html or such other updated website from time to time.
“Privacy Policy” means Sony’s privacy policy as available at https://store.sony.com.au/privacy-policy.html as amended by Sony from time to time.
“Product Registration Page” means the website located at https://store.sony.com.au/registration as amended by Sony from time to time.
“Proof of Purchase” means the proof of purchase to be uploaded as part of the registration process in accordance with the requirements set out in these Promotion Terms. The Proof of Purchase requirements set out in these Promotion Terms apply to obtaining the Extended 1-year Sony Standard Warranty and do not impact your rights under the Australian Consumer Law for demonstrating proof of purchase for a claim relating to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
“Promotion Terms” means these terms and conditions;
“Sony Standard Warranty” means Sony’s Standard Warranty for an Eligible Product, which is in addition to a consumer’s rights under the Australian Consumer Law, as available at https://store.sony.com.au/warranty.html?cpint=sso:footer:about-sony:warranty as amended by Sony from time to time.
“Tourist Limited Warranty” means Sony’s limited warranty offered to consumers who purchase a Sony product overseas outside their usual country of residence, so that the warranty can be utilised in their usual country of residence.

- “Grey” or parallel imported Sony products purchased in Australia
- Lay-by and purchases from duty-free, discounted or clearance eBay sales
